KD Custom Drum Kits

We currently offer three types of drum kit. The K-1000, Vintage series and our Classic Maple.

All drums are supplied with our new KD-HS lugs. They all come fitted with rim mounts and 2.3mm triple flange hoops unless otherwise stated.

All hardware is available in chrome, 24 carat gold, aluminium as standard but any plating or powder coated finish can be ordered.

KD K-1000 Drum Kits

The K-1000 drums were a mile stone in our production of drum shells. These were first designed back in 2005 and were called the “KD Classic Birch”.

When making our latest moulds for all our shells we tested them and made prototypes of the Classic Birch shells. The results were everything we could have asked for and decided to rename the Classic Birch drums to the new K-1000.

Made from premium finish birch ply and constructed with the grain running vertical instead of horizontal. The vertical grain allows the sound waves to travel four times faster down the grain which results in less decay and over ring.

The K-1000 drums like the K-28 are very clean sounding drums which have a good dynamic range and great sensitivity. The drums do not change character from low to high volume and give a full crisp sound with outstanding projection.

The K-1000 toms are 9ply as standard and bass drums 12ply. Please note that any thickness is available on these drums on special request.

KD Vintage Series Drum Kits

The Vintage Series drums were designed with the idea of creating the old with the new.

The sought after vintage sound but with more modern and up to date hardware. When combined with our vintage wooden hoops they give a look and feel of timeless class and quality.

The Vintage series shells are construed using a mix of mahogany and birch plies. The combination of these two woods gives the drums a very distinct sound which has clean notes with nice warm undertones and lots of resonance. 

Nice low pitched drums with a good all round deep sound.

KD Classic Maple Drum Kits

KD's classic maple shells feature select cuts of premium Canadian maple wood cut into plies, positioned with staggered vertical seams, and sealed together with evenly distributed air pressure.

This construction process ensures that every drum shell is in round and of uniform thickness. It also provides the shell with superior tone quality and durability.

Tom and floor tom shells are 6 ply and bass drum shells are 8 ply to help produce a low fundamental tone. Maple offers a warm sound with full sustain and outstanding projection.
